The delegation under the leadership of Dr. Novruz Aslanov- president of Azerbaijan Red Crescent Society and deputy of parliament, officially visited Turkish Red Crescent Society in Ankara, the capital of Turkey on 28-31March 2012. This visit was organized based on the invitation of Ahmet Lutfi Akar, president of Turkish Red Crescent Society. Gafar Asgarzadeh, vice president and Bayram Valiyev, advisor on weapon contamination program, deputy-chairman of Youth Committee were members of the delegation.

On 2012, World Day on fighting against TB was celebrated under the slogan of “While I’m alive I stop TB” in many countries of the world. According to information received from the World Health Organization, about 10.000 TB infection cases among children under 15 years old have been revealed in Europe in 2010. Annually, on 24 March the Azerbaijan Red Crescent Society has been organizing meetings with public to educate people on tuberculosis and to draw attention of population to the problem of TB. On that day, the National Society also conducted surveys on TB among population and organized various kinds of events.

As traditionally, Azerbaijan Red Crescent Society rendered assistance to alone elderly and orphans during Novruz holiday on 20-21 March this year as well. 15 packs of food were distributed to IDPs and alone elderly people settled down in Quzanli settlement of Agdam district by the initiative of “Azersun Holding” and by the organization of Migration department of the Society. The event held by the participation of Firuza Aliyeva, head of Agdam branch of AzRC and volunteers of the society was welcomed with a great plesure by the them. Welcoming the alone elderly and IDPs on behalf of leadership of the Society, Firuza Aliyeva congratulated them with Novruz holiday, one of the oldest holiday of our nation.

One of the most important principles humanity within the history is benevolence and kindness. Helping to one another and always keeping on the focus of attention are the important basis of humanity. As usually taking into consideration the principles of humanity, Azerbaijan Red Crescent helps to vulnerable people, chronically ill and other alone elderly people who are in needin need of such help. One of the main priority activities of AzRCS is to perform social and medical services for vulnerable people by mobilizing the capacity of the Society and the power of humanity.

The event related to Novruz holiday in the frames of “Social integration of physically disabled children” was held by Sumgayit branch of AzRCS on 15th of March. The project is with supported by Austrian Red Cross. School Kits were distributed to 30 disabled and chronically ill children participating in that event by 15 volunteers.
