Summary meeting of the year held in the direction of Mine Action
The meeting jointly organized by the representatives of ICRC functioning in Azerbaijan and Azerbaijan Red Crescent about the conclusion of the activities implemented by International Red Cross/Red Crescent Movement in the direction of mine action in Azerbaijan was held traditionally in “ Aqua Park” relax center situating in Novchani settlement in Baku city on November 11-12 in 2008.
The aims of the meeting were the discussions on the project of “SPA” constructed for children by Azerbaijan Red Crescent in 7 villages with high mine risks , situating close to the front line from Gazakh, Agstafa, Agdam, Fizuli Gadabay with the financial support of International Olympic Committee and technical support of ICRC , holding appreciation of the project of “SPA“ constructed in 42 such villages of Republic during 2005-2008 in communities, the level of the activity on gathering information about mine victims according to Agreement Memorandum signed on December in 2007 between Red Crescent and ANAMA for mines and meetings about mine activities of Red Cross And ICRC in following years.
A communication training was organized in Budapest, Hungary on 10-12th of November, 2008 by the Europe zone of the International Federation of Red Cross and Crescent Societies.
Head of the Europe zone of International Federation of Red Cross and Crescent Societies -Anitta Underlin made a speech in the opening of the training.
Various presentations were made on new management work model, information policy, PR campaigns, information, communication, advocacy strategy.
Secretary General of Azerbaijan Red Crescent Society Baylar Talibov and Chairman of the Youth Committee Shaban Shayev paid an official visit to Tbilisi, Georgia on 18-21 November, 2008, based on invitation of the International Federation of Red Cross and Crescent Societies, Georgian Red Cross and International Committee of the Red Cross.
The main objective of the meeting is to provide an opportunity to discuss the current humanitarian situation in Georgia, the ongoing GRCS response and the proposed plans and programmes for the medium and long-term.
Various nations, cultures, civilizations exist in the world and these nations have their own traditions and it makes them differ from one another. However, there are some principles which bring their different cultures to a common dimension. One of these humanity principles is care and respect to the old and aged people.
Demonstrating loyalty to its humanity principles, as one of the largest organization in the republic, Azerbaijan Red Crescent Society takes care of the aged people constantly.
Representatives of Turkish Red Crescent Society in Baku
Tekin Kuchukali –president of Turkish Red Crescent Society with a 9 members’ representative staff paid an official visit to Baku in the frame of friendship, partnership on October 20-22 in 2008.
During the visit, Ahmed Lutfu Akar–vice president of Turkish Red Crescent Society, Muzaffer Komit-Secretary General, Omer Tashli-Director General, Hayati Chetin- board member, Bayram Selvi-deputy director of the department of international relations, Reshit Bastuq-program manager on regional cooperation programme, Deniz Solen- Head of International Department and Fecri Alparslan- Advisor followed him.
